The research, involving nearly 6,000 adults, showed that those with both conditions had an 86% increased risk of stroke, while those with only gum disease had a 44% increased risk. The study suggests that inflammation and bacteria from poor oral health may contribute to cardiovascular issues, highlighting the importance of maintaining good oral hygiene as part of stroke prevention efforts.
