ADA Calls for Improved Interoperability Standards for Dental Imaging

The American Dental Association (ADA) has urged the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to improve interoperability standards for dental imaging. The ADA highlighted the challenges posed by proprietary software and lack of standardization, which hinder efficient image exchange and increase costs. They recommended adopting standards-based interoperability and creating dental-specific certification criteria to enhance patient care and reduce unnecessary costs and radiation exposure. The ADA's proposals aim to ensure seamless access and sharing of dental images, improving diagnosis and health outcomes.
