Natural Mouthwash: Preserving Good Bacteria While Eliminating Bad

Rutgers School of Dental Medicine has discovered a naturopathic mouthwash with herbal ingredients that could potentially serve as an alternative to traditional mouthwash. Traditional antiseptic rinses eliminate all oral bacteria, including beneficial bacteria that protect against gum disease and other oral health issues. Rutgers identified this issue and sought out a solution, so they put a commercially available herbal mouthwash to the test. They found that the herbal alternative was most effective for killing harmful bacteria while still preserving the helpful ones. This discovery could signal the start of a new era of dentistry that dives deeper into more natural methods.
